There are no secrets to life. Maybe unknowns or mysteries, but not secrets. Just about anything you need to succeed and have a happy life are right there in front of you.
Those that tell you they have "the secret" are just snake oil salesman bullshitting you so they can get rich off of you. If it was actually a secret, they wouldn't be telling you anyway. If they do, it is not really a secret, now is it?
Anthony Robbins once said this and it has never left me. If I would only give one piece of advice to anyone, it would be this. It encompasses anything and any facet of life.

Below I have listed some of the things that work for me. There is no grand secret here. Just simple stuff to follow. If you so choose.
Do your homework.
Work hard.
Invest smart.
Make a plan. Stick with the plan if it is working. Change the plan if you realize your plan sucked and isn't working.
Trust those worth trusting.
Try to treat others as you wish to be treated.
Live within your means. Dream beyond them.
Help those that need help but never do for them what they can do for themselves.
Stand up for yourself.
Never back down from a fight you can win.
Walk away from those who try to suck the positive out of you and leave you empty.
When you get knocked down get back up and figure out why you got knocked down so it doesn't happen again.
When it happens again, get back again and figure out why you were wrong the first time.
Science may not be sexy, but until someone comes up with something better, it is the best we got.
Procrastinators and over eagers both add up to the same thing. Lack of productive output.
Don't hold grudges but don't forget that what people say and do say something about who they are.
When all else fails, gather yourself and start over with the only thing you can ever take with you...experience.
